Enlighten claim to be able to get everyone's teeth to a Shade B1 which is the whitest standard shade for dental porcelain used for making crowns and veneers. However some people want their teeth to be even whiter and in my experience this can only be achieved by re-facing the teeth in and opaque porcelain as it is this unnatural opacity that they crave rather than a natural tooth shade.

A rule of thumb is that if you want your teeth whiter than the whites of your eyes then bleaching alone may not be able to help

Over the past 20 years I have seen many whitening systems come and go and I still prefer to use a 10% carbamide peroxide gel in trays used at home

Most patients get a satisfactory result in 2 weeks (possibly with a final in surgery session with a stronger gel) If necessary you can use the gel for longer and studies in the USA have shown that these 10% gels can be safely used for up to 6 MONTHS if your teeth are severely stained

Usually this is the most cost effective way to bleach
